While Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson has many challenges ahead, Chicagoans have made clear that none are of greater importance than tackling public safety issues. Key to that is rebuilding the relationship between the Chicago Police Department and the communities the police serve, which for too long has been driven by fear and distrust.
