The pursuit of Paschal Donohoe as though he committed treason in the past weeks by Sinn Féin was appalling. Sinn Féin’s hoped-for retribution, the minister’s resignation, shows a warped degree of objectivity, a flawed concept of proportionality, little consideration for justness and no respect for the political image of this country abroad, especially in the context of Mr Donohoe’s proven role in the Eurogroup.
